HYROX GUIDE

What is HYROX? Race format, workouts and beginner guide

HYROX is an indoor fitness race built around eight rounds of a 1 km run followed by one functional workout station. It tests running, strength endurance, movement efficiency and pacing in one repeatable format.

01

How does a HYROX race work?

The official sequence alternates 1 km runs with SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmer’s carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls. Loads vary by division, so the current rulebook should always be checked.

02

What does HYROX test?

Performance depends on aerobic capacity, strength endurance, efficient transitions and smart pacing. Pure running speed or maximal strength alone is not enough.

03

Can beginners enter HYROX?

Yes. Open, Pro, Doubles and Relay formats serve different goals. Beginners should first build running tolerance and movement quality before adding demanding race simulations.
