HYROX Doubles guide: Partner choice and race strategy
HYROX Doubles is a two-person format. Both athletes complete all eight runs together and share workout-station work under the current rules. The best team is built on compatible pacing, not only individual strength.
How Doubles works
Partners enter runs and stations together. Workout work follows a You Go/I Go principle, allowing the pair to divide distance or reps around their strengths.
Choose the right partner
Similar running pace, clear communication and a shared goal matter more than raw power. Large pace differences can force repeated waiting.
Plan station changes
Short, agreed blocks make transitions clear. Later stations may need more frequent switches. Rehearse the plan before race day.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do both Doubles athletes run 8 km?+
Yes. Both partners complete all eight 1 km runs together; workout-station work is shared.
