RUNNING PLAN
HYROX running plan: Build speed between workout stations
Running has a major impact on HYROX performance. The goal is not only a fast fresh 8 km, but the ability to re-establish efficient pace after every workout station.
Weekly running structure
Use an easy aerobic run and one tempo or interval session. A third run can be a short brick. Most weekly distance should remain conversational.
Running after stations
Controlled combinations teach rhythm: a measured work block followed by 800–1000 metres near target pace. The goal is repeatability, not exhaustion.
Progress volume safely
Increase distance gradually and monitor pain and recovery. Avoid aggressively increasing both running mileage and heavy lower-body work in the same week.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What 5K time do I need for HYROX?+
There is no required time. A current 5K helps estimate pace, but running after stations is a separate skill.
Can I do HYROX if I dislike running?+
Yes, but you cannot skip run preparation. Start with run-walk intervals and progress gradually.
